Recommendation for activating the paint marker for the first time:
*Shake the marker with the cap on
*Remove the cap
*Activate by pressing three times with the nib facing up
*Then proceed to pump the marker with the nib down onto a piece of paper
*Pump carefully up and down until the ink fills the nib
